Henri Büsser (January 16, 1872 – December 31, 1973) was a French classical music composer and conductor. Henri-Paul Büsser was born in Toulouse, Haute-Garonne, France. The musical secretary to Charles Gounod, he was an 1893 winner of the Prix de Rome for music. His noted students include the Japanese composer Tomojiro Ikenouchi (1906-1991). He married the noted soprano Yvonne Gall (1885-1972). In 1921 he became the professor of composition at the Conservatoire and in 1939 director of the Opéra Comique. He composed masses and other vocal music, and several operas, including Jane Grey, Daphnis et Chloé, Colomba, Les noces corinthiennes, Le carosse du Saint Sacrement. Henri Büsser died in Paris in 1973 at the age of 101. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
