Having been performing her songs of poetic lyrics and powerful melodies for some time now in istanbul, Hediye Guven is no newcomer to the music scene, although her debut album "Yengec", a must-have for both pop and jazz enthusiasts, has recently been released. Born in Australia as the daughter of a Turkish folk music performer, Hediye Guven, with her enchanting masculine voice, was exposed to the practice of musical expression at very early ages which later paved the way to her studies in performing arts in Pop and Jazz vocal both in Turkey and Australia. Developing her song writing skills, she performed her catchy tunes in bands, one of which was Playground, chosen to be best band Turkey in 2002, Roxy Music Days. Later pursuing a solo carrier, she has been successfully performing in prestigious venues (Hayal Kahvesi, Istanbul Modern, Salon IKSV, Babylon) with her band. "Yengec" which is considered to be a great album of timeless quality by most music critics, consists of songs that Guven describes as, "jazzy dreamings in pop locations under lyrical weather".
