Heavy Metal Mater is a heavy metal band led by frontman Mater on vocals and three unnamed forklifts. One on drums and two on guitar. The band was formally named Mater and the Gas-Caps, they made garage rock out of a garage. Once they got good enough they performed their first gig at a truck stop. A fan there asked if they had a record. They did not and Mater told them they’d “be right back”. Mater and the Gas-Caps went to record their record and while doing so a fly came into the studio and disrupted the drummer. The drummer started playing really fast and loose to get rid of the fly. The other band mates and producers thought this was intentional improvisation and followed suit. This piqued the interest of everyone in the recording studio particularly the record executive. He came in and said “You boys are good. All you need is a new name.” While Mater was contemplating a new name a forklift from Metal Movers came yelling “Delivery” holding a ton of heavy metal. He asked the Gas-Caps frontman “Where do you want this heavy metal Mater?”. This gave Mater an epiphany to call their band “Heavy Metal Mater”. They released their self titled album with a heavy metal rework of their original song “Dad Gum” . They were an overwhelming success with thousands coming to their concerts. They fully embraced the heavy metal aesthetic with costumes, lighting and a float. Lightning McQueen joined the band and played with them at shows.
