This is a largely acoustic-based solo project for singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Heather Slater. Here, the songs are usually stripped right down to their core, to a place where the squeak of finger on acoustic guitar string, or the crackle of vinyl, or the muffled sound of a dog barking in the distance, are as essential to the atmosphere as the song itself. With her alternative rock roots, Heather is no gentle folk singer in the traditional sense. Instead she takes inspiration from the passionate hollering of the likes of Patti Smith and John Lennon, the angst-ridden whispering of Elliott Smith and the elegant croons of his forefather, Nick Drake.
