There are at least two artists named Headless Chickens: 1) a British punk band from Exeter, England, whose members included Thom Yorke 2) a New Zealand band that made extensive use of electronic instruments 1) Headless Chickens was a British punk band from Exeter, England, whose members included Thom Yorke (guitar and vocals), Simon Shackleton (bass and vocals), John Matthias (violin), Laura Forrest-Hay (violin), Martin Brooks (drums), Andy Hills (bass) and Lindsey Moore (drums). In June 1989 they released their first single, "I Don't Want To Go To Woodstock", on the Hometown Atrocities EP, along with tracks from three other bands (Beaver Patrol, Jackson Penis and Mad At The Sun). This is believed to be Yorke's first ever released recording, on which he played lead guitar and sang backing vocals. 2) Headless Chickens was a New Zealand band. Going against the grain of the Dunedin sound that dominated the Flying Nun Records roster at the time, Headless Chickens made extensive use of electronic instruments in their music. Formed in 1985 (initially as `International Headless Chickens') as a special project to perform at the multi-media event The Nitpickers Picnic. The initial line-up was Children's Hour members Chris Matthews, Johnny Pierce and Michael Lawry. The project became permanent following the end of This Kind of Punishment and their first release was a track on the 1986 student radio compilation album Outnumbered By Sheep.
