Haystacks Balboa were a hard-rock band from Queens in New York City, whose sole eponymous album was released on Polydor in 1970 & featured two songwriting contributions from Larry West, brother of Mountain's Leslie West. This album has also been issued on CD by Audio Archives under the alternate title 'Detoxified'. The hard rock tunes are typical of the time, like Sabbath or Mountain, with backbreaking heavy fuzzy guitars and satanic lyrics. The progressive moments are quite nice, long tracks relying on Hammond organ and guitar interplay with extended instrumental stretches.
