Harry Bulow received a Diploma in Saxophone Performance from Trinity College of Music in London, England in 1974, his BA with distinction in music San Diego State University and his MA and PhD in music theory and composition from UCLA (1978, 1983). He studied composition and orchestration with Aaron Copland, Peter Mennin, Roy Travis, Henri Lazarof, David Ward-Steinman, Elaine Barkin and Henry Mancini. At home in concert, sacred, jazz and rock music, his style can be richly eclectic. He is Professor of Music and served as Head of the School of Visual and Performing Arts at Purdue University for 10 years (now titled the School of Design, Art, and Performance).
