Hapu Payuara is a singer and jungga player from east Sumba, Indonesia. He lives in Desa Watupada, in the region of Umalulu. He plays the two-stringed version of the jungga, which is a lute instrument. Hapu Payuara is inn effect the staff musician of Oemboe Nggikoe, the raja of Pau. When the raja mounts a celebration, entertains guests or wants to demonstrate traditional music to wandering musicologists, he sends someone up into the hills to find Hapu Payuara.
