"The Complete Hit of the Week Records, Volume 1" booklet says the following: "but who or what was Happy-Rose? A real person or persons? A ghost bandleader? The name of a nightclub? We may never know for sure". Now we know! The 19 June 1931 edition of "Dobbs Ferry Register" reported "Irving Rose and the Davis-Happy-Rose Orchestra will furnish the music for the June dinner dance at the Ardsley Club which will take place Saturday evening, June 27." The 11 November 1932 issue of The New York Evening Post reported "The club has been decorated with autumn foliage and chrysanthemums and the Happy Rose Orchestra will play for Miss Johnson's coming out party". The 11 December 1931 issue of the same newspaper reported "The second of the Friday Assemblies, a series of subscription dances given annually for girls who have been out a few seasons and the young married set, will be held tonight in the Crystal Room of the Ritz-Carlton. The Happy Rose Orchestra will play. 23 January 1931 edition of the same newspaper reported in the article "Dinner Parties Will Precede Blue Ridge Dance" that "he music will be furnished by the Happy Rose Orchestra with special en-tertainment by the Meadow Brook Boys". The 11 September 1931 edition of "Dobbs Ferry Register" reported "The feature of this weekend's activities at the Ardsley Club, Ardsley-on-Hudson, will be a dinnner dance to be held Saturday evening. Music for the occasion will be furnished by the Happy Rose Orchestra." User-contrib
