Artist
Halloween Town is Las Vegas, NV native Ryan Pardey formed in 2008. The son of a poker player, a kayak guide in the rough waters of Alaska, the muse and known associate to The Killers, is presently a couch surfing, hustler in San Diego making a record of his recovery. Halloween Town is the next endeavor of a life already surrounded with mystique. The foundation, based upon on a decision and promise to return to a life in pursuit of meaning, while his present situation and future remains precarious at best. Whether the story begins on a billionaire’s yacht in Sydney while a love story goes down or on the wrong side of a M-16 in Rio de Janeiro, reality is found in the tale as it is presented. The debut release “Summer (The Dreamer From 1997)” and “If You’re Worried” display feelings steeped in jealousy, idealism, and lingering nostalgia clinging to unknown pleasures of innocence lost over time. Produced by Jason Hill and Brian Karscig (Louis XIV), the native sons of San Diego, the malaise hovering over Halloween Town is again somewhere nostalgic and even more distant into the past. The clear and obvious influences of The Beatles and The Beach Boys is spotted, but much of the time the songs are presented with sounds more reminiscent of a classic Motown single than one coming from Abbey Road. Mark Stoermer (The Killers) plays the bass with bounce and groove mostly, with the hard driving lines making songs dance when necessary. Mixed by Doug Boehm (Guided by Voices, The Vines) in
Zafra Ct.
