Halit Kakınç (born April 30, 1952, Ankara) is a Turkish academic, journalist, investigative author, musician, and folk music artist. Between 1970 and 1975, he was a member of the music group Dönüşüm, recording nine 7" records in the Anatolian folk style. Kakınç represented Turkey three times in the USSR, Romania, and Bulgaria. He began his journalism career in 1974 and worked in various newspapers as News Director, Editorial Manager, Head of the Economy Department, Magazine Director, Editor-in-Chief, and columnist. Kakınç completed his primary and secondary education at Bostanlı Mustafa Reşit Paşa Primary School, the German Secondary School, and the Austrian High School in Karşıyaka, İzmir. After graduating from the School of Political Science, he completed his master’s degree at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Economics, Department of Social Policy, and earned his PhD in the Department of International Relations. He has made significant contributions both to Turkish folk music and to the field of international relations.
