Though known for being the shy and somewhat taciturn member of 黒夢 (the opposite of partner 清春), Hitoki decided to step into the spotlight in 1997 for his 1st solo venture. 1997 was an especially busy year for 黒夢. In April of that year, the band had released their 9th single NITE & DAY and had resumed tour activities. Almost two months later they released their 10th single Spray, followed 3 weeks later by their 5th full album Drug Treatment. It was during that heavy touring and release schedule of 黒夢, that Hitoki found time to embark on his solo project. He enlisted the help of his friends: Producer Masahide Sakuma (who also provided guitar and keyboards), drummer Soul Toul and Kaoru (who co-wrote a majority of the lyrics, and who could possibly be 間宮かおる from Of-J).
