Group Navo is an ensemble from Uzbekistan that plays Uzbek music on traditional instruments. Playing the karnay and surnay (reed instrument) is the national music art of Uzbek people. It is passed on from father to son, from generation to generation, from teacher to pupil. It is played at weddings, national holidays and similar events. Group Navo was formed in 2003 at the House of Culture in Chilanzar by karnay and surnay player Abdumannop Teshaboyev. His teacher was Ubaydullo Vahobov. The group “Navo” members are : Davron Ismatov – surnay Davlat Kurbano, Farkhod Oripov, Rustam Khaitboyev, Utkur Jalolov and Botir Jamolov – karnay Nodirbek Zokirov – doira (drum) Abdufotih Teshaboyev – nogora (earthenware drum) The reportoire of the group “Navo” consists of national classical music and works of modern composers. The group “Navo” has regularly participated at regional and republican competitions and festivals of amateur performances. In 2003-2004 it won the first place the Grand Pris of city and Republican review – competition “Surnay sehri” which spent by charitable organization “Oltin meros”. In 2005 at Republic review festival of executors national musical instruments “Barhayot navolar “the group recieved the special award of the owner of the maximum place and expensive presents.
