Grinding Halt is a down-tempo hardcore band formed in Groningen, the Netherlands commonly referred to as having ex-members of Shikari and The Last Mile. The bands current line up consists of Mark on Vocals, René on Guitar, Eelco on Bass and Henk on Drums. Beginning as a two piece in the early 2000's by René and Pascal while both were playing in Los Asesinos De La Superficialidad. The line up remained this way until 2003 when Mark, Hans and Jaap joined the band. With this new line up the band played a few shows and recored a demo titled `Het oordeel is altijd het falen` that became apart of the bouwvakker collective. Their sound at that time was more in line with the 90's ebullition style emo. Before becoming a very active band, the members would participate in Grinding Halt when the members other bands weren't very active. Some time before 2006 Jaap and Pascal left the band. The bands current sound as most know it was formed after the band came out from hiatus. This happened when Shikari and The Last Mile disbanded, within a period of a year Hans moving to Drums and Eelco joining on Bass. The first out put with the new line up and sound would be the split 12 inch with Vuur in 2007. The next year the full length 'Sprookjeshof' was released which was titled after the run down theme park of the same name, it represents a metaphor for current Dutch society. The same year Hans would leave the band, and would be replace by Henk. With a new Drummer they would tour England and Ire
