Grigory Abramovich Krein ( Russian Григорий Абрамович Крейн; born 6 jul. / March 18 1879 greg. in Nizhny Novgorod , † January 6 1957 in Komarowo ) was a Russian composer . Krein studied in Moscow in January Hrimaly , Paul Juon and Gliere and 1905-1908 at Max Reger in Leipzig . Since 1913 he belonged, like his brother Alexander , the Moscow branch of the Society for Jewish Folk Music to. He worked as a violin and theory teacher in Moscow. From 1926 to 1934 he lived with his son Julian in Vienna , Paris and Berlin , then returned to Moscow and from 1941 to 1943 in Tashkent . Krein composed a symphony , a violin concerto , a Hebrew Rhapsody, the symphonic poem Saul and David, a concert fantasy for violin and orchestra, Three symphonic episodes, Four Songs without words and a string quartet .
