The turkish jazz trio Gri, beginned their performances in the autumn of 2009, right after the bass player Ahmet Sagir's contribution to Ali Murat Cengiz (piano) and Berke Yalci (drums), who had already performed in several projects for quite some time. Band, isn't just working on classical jazz standarts, but also trying to arrange tunes from musicians of closer eras while composing also their own material. The main purpose of the band is to establish an original sound and style during their creative adventure. The interplay oriented piano trio approach which was pioneered by Bill Evans and still being carried on by lots of successful bands like EST, The Bad Plus, Brad Mehldau Trio, Avishai Cohen Band, constructs the origin of their perspective. Because of Ahmet Sagir's movement to abroad, band is continuing its performances with Esat Ekincioglu on bass.
