The daughter and granddaughter of jazz performers, Gretje was born in Akron, Ohio. She originally set off to study classical music, but drifted away from music for a number of years. She moved to California, where she developed an interest in jazz performance. Her first album, "…in any key" is a result of collaboration with guitarist, producer, and arranger Dori Amarilio. Gifted with a fluid smooth voice, the album deftly captures jazz standards with passion and emotion.
