Artist
Greg Scheer has composed over 500 pieces, songs and arrangements. His music is published by Augsburg Fortress, GIA, Abingdon Press, Worship Today and Faith Alive. He has won commissions from the Iowa Choral Directors Association, Iowa Composers Forum, Linn-Mar High School String Orchestra, Chagall String Quartet and Northwestern College. His electronic piece, "Crossfade," was included on the CD ...from everlasting to everlasting... His string quartet "6" was featured on WQED in Pittsburgh and was also a winning composition in the 2000 Southeastern Composers' Symposium. Most recently, his hymn "People of the Lord" won the Calvin09 hymn contest and was subsequently sung and published internationally. Scheer is a member of Broadcast Music Incorporated, the Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers, LicenSing, and Christian Copyright Licensing International. In 1993 he received an MA in composition and theory from the University of Pittsburgh. Since then he has served at Bellefield Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Wildwood Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, and Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. At present he, his wife Amy, and their sons Simon and Theo live in Grand Rapids, Michigan where Greg is Minister of Worship at Church of the Servant and Music Associate at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship.
