Artist
Initially a power trio, guitarist Anthony Norris, bassist Matt Davey, and drummer Josh McGregor formed Greenlawn Abbey in February '03. After honing their chops at frequent live performances, the band traveled to Suma Studios in Cleveland to record a demo with engineer Paul Hamman of Pere Ubu fame. Growing popularity led to a spot at the Columbus Community Festival and a series of shows on the road. Tour dates included stops in Cleveland, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Nashville, Louisville, Chicago, and Memphis and performances with Warner Brothers recording artists The Sun as well as Tegan and Sara. Fall 2004 saw the release of Greenlawn Abbey’s self-titled debut on Diaphragm Records and a song appearing on Workbook Studios compilation CD "25 hour grand prix” in addition to performing at the Vote Explosion show at Little Brothers. This increased exposure has led to local and national radio airplay and a slot on rotation at CD101. -John Ross, The Columbus Dispatch User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
