Granny's Intentions was an Irish beat group formed by schoolfriends in Limerick in 1965. They were fronted by Johnny Duhan (born 1950) and subsequently featured guitarist Gary Moore (who went on to Thin Lizzy). Locally popular, it started to unravel for the band when recording of their album, "Honest Injun". Three tracks were cut in London with guitarist John Hockedy and drummer Noel Bridgeman (formerly in Skid Row) before they split up. Back in Ireland, however, the band reformed and recruited Gary Moore with whom they completed the album at Decca Studios in London. The album was released on the Deram label in 1970, but it was already out of step with the prevailing trends. The band's moniker had misleading psychedelic nuance, whilst musically they were caught between the cusp of two eras; homespun earthiness melding with blues-orientated rock that flourished in the 70s. Moore went on to Thin Lizzy, vocalist Duhan later earned acclaim for his compositions (his material has since been covered by the likes of Christy Moore, The Irish Tenors, Mary Black, Van Morrison and The Dubliners), drummer Noel Bridgeman subsequently had a guest appearance with Clannad.
