There are several music groups with the band name Good News. 1) A Christian British rock band that formed in 1971 and is rightly counted among the Jesus Music era. The band emerged from the precursor band The Joy Strings, which belonged to the Salvation Army and was considered the 'official' pop group of the Salvation Army. Ex-Joy String Bill Davidson then started again and gathered Salvationist musicians from all over Europe, and was able to convince the BBC to record an album for 'Religious Broadcast to Schools'! In July 1971, Bill Davidson began rehearsing with the Good News group, whose members had come from far away. Lio Fivaz from Rome, Ellen Schram from Holland, where she was a school teacher in Amsterdam, Roger Woodrow worked in his hometown in Norfolk and Kevin Burton was a student in Weybridge, Surrey. All belonged to the Salvation Army and all had a musical background. Then in 1972 the album "New Life" was released and it is on the BBC label, but the Salvation Army owns the copyright for the album. It's a great rock and roll album and way ahead of its time for the Christian market. Unfortunately, this is the only album. Members Bill Davidson - Vocal, Guitar, Piano.
