Artist
Gloria de Oliveira is a German-Brazilian multidisciplinary artist and musician. She has been writing and performing music since childhood, at first aspiring to become an opera singer - through a twist of fate she ended up at drama school in London instead, subsequently working for the stage, film and radio, starring in international productions such as Babylon Berlin and Christian Petzold’s Berlinale winner Undine (2020). In 2017 Gloria began releasing demos to the internet with the Synthwave project lovespells, leading up to the 5-track EP Lua Azul. In 2018, Gloria won the Krach + Getoese prize, Hamburg’s award and support programme for up-and-coming musicians, which enabled her to work on her two self-produced EPs La Rose de Fer and Lèvres de Sang (named after the vampire film classics by Jean Rollin) at the analogue studio Clouds Hill Recordings. Both were released digitally & on limited edition cassette through her own imprint La Double Vie and the cult cassette label Dispersion in 2019. In early 2020 her debut album Fascination was released via Reptile Music & Cargo Records on CD and Vinyl, including remixes by artists such as Gudrun Gut, Box And The Twins, Tellavision and Fragrance. In the spring of the same year, she was booked as the support for the Germany tour of the band Tempers, which was ultimately cancelled due to the COVID19 pandemic.
