Blues guitarist Glenn R. Townsend: Born in Sulphur, Oklahoma and later residing in Tulsa, he started his career in 1961 playing rhythm guitar with the Ram Rods. After working in California as a studio musician and touring with the band TRUK, he moved back to Tulsa and formed the Glenn R. Townsend Band in the early 1980s. This band played blues rock and released multiple albums and CDs. Early Career and Studio Work After a brief stint with the Ram Rods, Townsend's music led him to California, where his band signed with Columbia Records, who changed their name to TRUK. The band released the album Truk Tracks in 1970 and toured with several notable acts, including Lee Michaels, Chicago, The Grass Roots, The Leon Russell Redbone Tour, and Grand Funk Railroad. Townsend also worked as a studio recording artist for Warner Bros. Records and contributed guitar work to movie soundtracks, such as The Crooked Mile. Return to Tulsa and Blues Rock Feeling the strain of the fast-paced life in California, Townsend returned to Tulsa in the early 1980s, where he formed The Glenn R. Townsend Band. This band focused on playing blues rock and performed in various venues across the five-state area. The Glenn R. Townsend Band released several albums and CDs, including Rock'n the Blues, Can't Live Without Your Love, and Driving the Bus.
