In the 1985 Gramado Cinema Fest Awards, Glauco Sagebin was honored for his work in the animation 'As Cobras' being voted Best Original Music for Short Movie. Few who have followed the career of the pianist and composer were surprised at the result of the balloting. The single award was only a glimpse of the path the artist's career would take since he first appeared on the music scene more than two decades ago. As pianist and performer, he has touched many musical bases, in and out of jazz, during his entire career. A native of Jaguarao, Rio Grande do Sul,at the south border of Brazil with Uruguay, he grew up listening the sounds of his Grand father transglobal short wave radio, located at the border, his radio used to sintonize sounds from satellites noise transmissions to Wager Operas, rock groups and jazz big band , that were being transmitted from everywhere in the globe. Glauco served his professiona apprenticeship initially attending the Music School of OSPA (Porto Alegre Symphonic Orchestra) for music theory class and private piano lessons. He made his initial impact as a sideman for two support bands from South of Brazil stabilished local artists, Nei Lisboa and Bebeto Alves. From there , he segued into work as a arranger and performer with his own groups.
