Artist
Formed in Melbourne, Australia in late 2011, Gladstone has spent the past year focused on writing their forthcoming EP. Not worrying about fitting into any one genre the Melbourne five piece draw on their influences combining both aggression and beauty to bring their own style of fast paced hardcore and punk rock. In January 2013 Gladstone began recording their debut EP ‘Bear Bones’ with Mitch Gilmore from Revolution Music in their home studio in Melbourne. Bear Bones captures the bands raw high energy and power of their live performance with songs that incorporate driving riffs, catchy melodies, and a powerful rhythm section. There are three other bands named "Gladstone": 1) An indie rock/emo band originating at Newsome High School in Lithia, Florida. 2) A 1970's country rock band from Texas. 3) A project by members from ihollywood, originating from Montreal. # Why Gladstone Warrants Your Attention This debut EP occupies an intriguing middle ground—it refuses genre orthodoxy while pursuing genuine craft. Rather than choosing between hardcore's intensity and melodic accessibility, the band synthesizes both, suggesting an intellectual curiosity about what aggressive music can express. The recorded approach matters too: capturing live energy in a home studio setting demands disciplined arrangement rather than polish alone. Their willingness to blend aggression with beauty, within the constraints of punk-rock's traditional brevity, raises worthwhile questions about how much emotional range brief songs can contain. For listeners tired of genre predictability, this represents something worth investigating.
