Giovanni Francesco Giuliani ( Livorno , 1760 - Florence , 1820 ) was an Italian harpist, composer and conductor. Born in Livorno in 1760, in Florence he studied violin with the great Nardini , where he became one of the most distinguished pupils, and counterpoint with Bartolomeo Felici . Giuliani's entire career took place in Florence where, young, held the position of first violin at the New Theatre, and where he was conductor of the Theatre of the Intrepid, 1783-1798. With his long teaching spread and kept alive the tradition of the violin school of his master, Nardini, in turn concertmaster of the court orchestra commissioned by the enlightened ruler Pietro Leopoldo , Grand Duke that favored the production of art in Tuscany so as to give an international cultural breath to the small but refined court Fiorentina, connected to Vienna.
