Artist
Ginés Morata was a Iberian Renaissance composer of the 16th Century, probably Portuguese. Few details of his life are known. He was Kapellmeister at the Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa, belonging to the Dukes of Braganza, possibly before 1576 . Only a small number of carols, madrigals, polyphonic songs and Pange lingua have survived. His works are preserved in manuscripts of the Chapel of the Dukes of Braganza and the Cancionero de Medinaceli (11 songs and Pange lingua). His presence in the Cancionero de Medinaceli be explained by the incorporation of Portugal to the Crown of Castile between 1580 and 1640 .
