Artist
There are two artists named Gerry O'Connor. 1. Dundalk-born fiddler Gerry O’Connor co-founded the influential group Skylark – also featuring the great Antrim singer Len Graham – in 1986. Five years later, he went on to form Lá Lugh, alongside his wife, Eithne Ní Uallacháin, again specialising in the South Ulster repertoire, before the band’s blossoming career was cut short by Ní Uallacháin’s untimely death in 1999. He released a solo album, Journeyman, in 2004. Since then Gerry has recorded with Martin Quinn and Gabriel McArdle , releasing "Jig Away the Donkey " and Oirialla with Nuala Kennedy , Martin Quinn and Gilles le Bigot . He is presently guest musician with The Irish Rovers. www.gerryoconnor.net 2. After short spells with The Wild Geese and Arcady, banjo player Gerry O'Connor recorded his first solo album in 1992 and this firmly established him as a solo performer in his own right. In 1993 Gerry joined Four Men and a Dog and has since recorded four critically acclaimed albums, three of which were produced by American legends ‘The Band’. Gerry currently performs with many of Ireland’s top musicians including the recently reformed Four Men and a Dog. He recorded his second solo album Myriad in 1999.
