Artist
George Usher Group is a power pop/indie pop band based around its namesake, singer-songwriter George Usher. Born in Cleveland, Usher moved to New York in 1977 and has played in several groups. His personal band released their debut album, 'Days of Plenty', in 2001 through Parasol Records. It had been recorded in New York City and New Jersey and was mixed by longtime pop rock musician Mitch Easter. At that point, the group was made up of Usher alongside guitarist Doug Larcey, bassist Dennis Ambrose, and drummer John Bellon The band's latest album, 'Fire Garden', was released in 2003-- also through Parasol Records and also mixed by Easter. Both albums have been well-recived by reviewers such as Popmatters' Gary Glauber. Musically, the band is heavily influenced by Big Star and Usher himself by Alex Chilton. In recent years, it's been in somewhat of a hiatus as Usher has performed by himself. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
