George Paul Blagden (born December 28, 1989) is a London-based stage and film actor. He is best known for his role of the cynical revolutionary Grantaire in the 2012 movie adaptation of Les Misérables. He also stars in the upcoming television series Vikings as the monk Athelstan. George left boarding school at 18 to train as an actor in London at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, whose alumni include actors such as Daniel Craig, Ewan McGregor and Orlando Bloom. At Guildhall, George explored the works of writers such as Anton Chekhov, William Shakespeare, Simon Stephens and David Hare, and also performed in Restoration comedy and musical theatre. He started singing aged 13 and performed in a number of choirs in venues such as King’s College, Cambridge and St Paul’s Cathedral. He was also the lead singer of a rock band for three years and founded a songwriting masterclass which produced songs that were available on iTunes. George went on to produce his first album, “Dimensional” and has enjoyed singing and songwriting ever since. He recently appeared in “Opening Doors”, a selection of new Musical Theatre writing at the Soho Theatre. George completed his training at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in June 201
