Let's face it, they say that the first impression is the most important, and after setting your eyes upon these five young men, The terms "gentlemen" and "scholars" are probably not the first two words that would come to mind. If you were to sit in a room with the collective bunch, you'd probably be overwhelmed by unkempt beards, cigarette smoke, and the smell of cheap whiskey. But don't let their physical attributes fool you, because despite their outward appearances, these boys couldn't be further from stupid and backwards. "We're really just a group of friends who happen to play music together," explains Patrick Brady, who plays guitar and keyboards in Gentlemen and Scholars. "We're all just normal, everyday people with families and jobs. We're an eclectic crew. We've got chefs, bar tenders, IT administrators, and welders in this band. Our primary focus has always been playing music, but it never hurts to have a fall back plan," says Brady. With that being said, if one were to ask these boys why they decided to make music under the moniker Gentlemen and Scholars, one should also expect to receive a unique answer. "Honestly," says Jeremiah Galey, vocalist for Gentlemen and Scholars, “We settled on the name Gentlemen and Scholars well before we had a chance to define our musical style.
