Gentleman’s Dub Club is a nine-piece live dance music outfit that formed in Leeds in early 2006. With a style based in dub and roots reggae music, the GDC have gone from playing at house parties in and around Leeds to events at major venues such as Koko, The Coronet, Cargo, 93 Feet East, and at University Unions up and down the country. They have also appeared at a number of summer festivals, including Secret Garden Party and The Outlook Festival, Croatia. With their mixture of tight grooves and a dance-floor friendly sound (the band boasts its own sound engineer who operates dub-style live effects and mixing) the GDC have a tendency of packing the clubs out, as word of this unique sound spreads further afield. To date, Gentleman’s Dub Club has supported such acts as The Wailers, Finlay Quaye, Natty, Foreign Beggars Live Band, Beardyman and Zion Train. The Band: Jila (Vocals); Kieren Gallagher (Sax) and Matt Roberts (Trumpet / Trombone); Nick 'Byson' Tyson (Guitar); Eddie 'Rankin' Thomas (Keys); Toby 'Landlord' Davies (Bass and Trumpets); 'Papa Tom Tom' Evans(Drums); Niall 'Bingi' Lavelle (Percussion); Harry Evergreen (Soundboy) User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
