Melyssa Gems (Melissa Warburton) was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. Her discovery of music and performing started at the age of 3. Singing along with the Care Bears record while jumping on the bed and singing the ABC’s at the family holiday parties became one of her most favorite childhood activities. By age 9, Melyssa started her very first band with her childhood best friend and began to write her own songs with titles like “Daddy Don’t Smoke” and “Love You’re Right Next to me”. In high school, Melyssa decided she wanted to pursue music and performing as a career and began her vocal training at age 15. She went on to attend District, Regional and State chorus festivals as well as participating in her high school theatre program. Following high school, Melyssa attended The University of the Arts (Philadelphia, PA) and received a BFA in Musical Theatre. Some professional theatre credits include Philadelphia Theatre Company, The Wilma Theatre, The Prince Music Theatre, The Media Theatre and the Arden Theatre Company, among others. Melyssa has had the privilege of singing projects produced by Walter "Bunny" Sigler (known for his work with The O’Jays, The Roots, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes and Patti LaBelle, among others) and performed in acts opening for artists like Billboard Music Special Award winner, DMX, Grammy Award winning, Weezer, and American Music Award winner, Snoop Dogg.
