Despite numerous faked biographical accounts, Gazebo Martyr was actually born in the Spring of 2005 in a college dorm room. "Lunar Extravaganza" was their first smash hit, released in late April, 2005. After a nearly ten-month hiatus, their next single, "Cold Dinner" was released, on the last day of January, 2006. In the meantime, various tracks were recorded, and an EP was actually conceptualized, entitled "Crime Scene Photographs From the Motel Room." Album artwork was released on the band's Myspace and various tracks were leaked through certain channels, songs such as "128," "Daytrip: Midwest," "The Oxymoronic Act," and "Frear Hall," among others, were all recorded and purported to be on the EP. Yet, the EP never materialized and it is assumed that the band has either abandoned the material or that it has been lost to the sands of time. In many ways Gazebo Martyr went dormant for the next few years. They still played occasionally, mainly the tracks from the unreleased "Crime Scene Photos" EP, as well as a few other tracks. In mid-2006 the band uploaded an acoustic song entitled "Coffee and Food," which up until that point had been unheard, to their Myspace. Various bootlegs of live shows were also available on certain websites, although their quality and content varied greatly. Returning in May of 2008, the band began to utilize their Last.fm page.
