Since its creation in 1993, Gatecrasher has rapidly become the UK's most outstanding and influential dance club and youth culture brand, changing the face of club culture globally. Gatecrasher began as a one-off party at the Engine House in the West Midlands in 1993 and has since built up a Worldwide reputation as a flamboyant, individual and hedonistic brand. From small beginnings, Gatecrasher went on to host several parties across the country before coming to reside at The Republic nightclub in Sheffield in March ’97. Situated in the grounds of the ‘Old Roper & Wreaks Steelworks’, the venue still retains key features of its industrial heritage and has since undergone two major re-fits to meet the demands of today’s discerning clubber culminating in a £1.5 million re-design in September 2003 which also saw a change in name from The Republic to Gatecrasher One. This name change also resulted in a repositioning of the brand with the World famous Gatecrasher Trance nights now operating under the name Crasher. Gatecrasher has hosted some of the largest-capacity parties throughout the UK; Leeds, Cardiff, Milton Keynes, Glasgow, Dublin and Birmingham to name but a few. In a revolutionary move, a clubbing first, one of the most talked-about events ever was Gatecrasher at Lotherton Hall, Leeds in 1999. 10,000 people congregated to listen to over 20 leading DJs and artists from all dance genres.
