Gastão Formenti (Jun 24, 1894 - May 28, 1974) was a Brazilian singer and painter. At 9 y.o., started to study painting with his father and Pedro Strina. In 1910, moving with the family to Rio De Janeiro, it started to work with the father in painting and, the 25 of February of 1920, it married Odília de Oliveira. Gastão started its career of singer in 1927; In the 3 first years as singer, launched records for the Odeon in such a way how much for its subsidiary one, the Parlophon, in which, by the way, got his first great success: "House of Caboclo", song of Hekel Tavares and Luiz Peixoto on reasons of Chiquinha Gonzaga. To the side of Carmen Miranda, he was the first Brazilian singer to sign a contract with a radio, the Mayrink Veiga, in 1930. In June of 1932, he recorded the song "Maringá" (Joubert de Carvalho), a great success that, later, would give name to the paranaense city. From 1940, he passed if to dedicate more to the painting, area where also it was distinguished.
