There are multiple artists that go by this name: 1) Gabriel Brown, known professionally as Bronze Avery, is an American singer-songwriter and producer. Brown was born in Orlando, Florida as a military child. Originally, he made his music debut under his legal name Gabriel Brown, with the EP American Dream, released in 2015. In 2017, he started going by the pseudonym Bronze Avery to disambiguate himself from several others with the same name "Gabriel Brown". In his earlier music, Avery avoided discussing his sexuality, but has now come to embrace LGBT+ themes. His single "Leave Together" is the first song released under his name Bronze Avery. In 2022, he released his debut studio album "SOFTMETAL", being followed up with his highly-praised 2024 sophomore studio album "HEATWAVE". 2) Gabriel Brown (1910 β 1972) was an American Piedmont blues singer and guitarist. Brown was born in Orlando, Florida, and graduated from the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical College. In 1934, Brown performed at the first National Folk Festival in St. Louis, Missouri. He was musically discovered by folklorist Zora Neale Hurston. She enlisted Alan Lomax who, in June 1935, recorded Brown for the Library of Congress. Similar to Ralph Willis, Alec Seward and Brownie McGhee, Brown then relocated from the Southern United States to New York City. Hurston gave Brown a part in her light opera, Polk County.
