Gabby Johnson was formed in DeSoto County, Mississippi--more specifically Horn Lake, Mississippi. The four guys all went to the same high school and through several coincidences of fate, all ended up playing music together one hot summer day in 1997. That first day was June 22, 1997. A phone call interrupted "practice". . .a friend heard about a new band and wanted them to play at his house Friday night. Well, if they weren't a band 5 minutes ago, they are now. Gabby Johnson. The history of Gabby Johnson goes way back to a church band that Joey & Donnie were in (with local singer/songwriter, Al Johns) back in the early '90's. They had a few gigs, but when they played a song that rocked at a church service one day, that was pretty much the end of that band. Around that same time, Juno and Joey were in high school together, but didn't meet until Joey's ex-girlfriend (Juno's girlfriend at the time) took Juno to church with her and Joey went to the same church. We both played guitar, and were both very new at it. Joey had played with Donnie in that band, and Juno had been playing for a few years, but had never been in a band. Over the next few years, Juno & Joey got together here and there and played a few times. . .no big deal. They were never a band, and never played in front of any people.
