In a world where the sounds of the past often seem forgotten, GODESVANG rises like a long-faded call from the deep forests. Founded in 2016, this solo project only emerged from the shadows at the end of 2023 to make its debut on the Neue Deutsche Folksmusik compilation by House of Inkantation, and now presents its first album. Strongly influenced by legendary bands such as Waldteufel, Graumahd, Sturmpercht, and Forseti, GODESVANG evokes the spirit of Dark Folk in its purest form. The melodies, often born from solitary wanderings through nature or inspired by the resonant verses of great poets, carry a longing rooted directly in the heart of the Germanic Urfolk tradition. The music — composed, performed, recorded, and mixed in the home studio "Sundigard" — was created over a period of eight years and unites the poetry of Arthur von Wallpach, Julius Sturm, Hans Bethge, and Rolf Schilling. It penetrates the soul with themes such as untamed nature, the divine within and around us, a deeply felt nostalgia, and the wistful vision of an idealized world that likely never was and never will be. GODESVANG represents a musical journey that transports the listener to a long-gone era without losing relevance or depth. It is the rebirth of a soundscape that has been missed in Germany for years.
