Born and raised in Istanbul, Gülay Akay is a Turkish pop vocalist whose musical journey began with a deep-rooted passion for performance and vocal artistry. She completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Istanbul, and soon after, immersed herself in formal music training. For seven years, she studied solfège and vocal techniques at the prestigious Üsküdar Musiki Cemiyeti, followed by private vocal lessons with renowned instructor Erdem Siyavuşgil. Her warm and engaging stage presence quickly earned her a loyal fan base. Gülay has performed in various venues across Istanbul, captivating audiences with her emotive voice and charismatic style. Determined to build a lasting career in music, she released her debut album Herşeye Rağmen under the Musicom label on January 25, 2011. The album features seven tracks, each offering a unique flavor of Turkish pop, with musical direction and arrangements by Orçun Çanaklı. The standout single “Ya Ben Ya O,” directed by İsmail Hakkı Koç, was accompanied by a compelling music video that reflects the emotional depth of the song’s narrative.
