Artist
Gábor Csalog (born in Budapest, 1960) is a Hungarian pianist. He started playing the piano at the age of six and when he was eleven, he was accepted as an extraordinary talent by the Liszt Academy of Music. Later he continued with György Sebõk at the University of Indiana in the United States. He was prize winner of the 1989 Liszt Competition in Budapest. He often performs contemporary music; he collaborates with many Hungarian composers. Although he has concerts in many European countries, his attention lately turned to radio and CD recordings. His first CD came up in 1990. He started recording all works of Chopin in 1996: up to the present Nocturnes and Mazurkas are completed. He is the Urtex-publisher of the works of Chopin at the music sheets publisher, Könemann Music Budapest. He lives in Budapest and teaches at the Bartók Secondary School of Music and the Franz Liszt Music Academy.
