When starting Fuzziliers in 2020 the band leader Slava Lobanov (songwriter, lead-vocal, guitar, bass, trombone, synths) was already well-known in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, not only as a former member of prominent local bands the Flash Fever (hard-rock) and Juice Oh Yeah (progressive-stoner-doom) but also as an active jazz, swing and dixieland musician. In late 2019 Slava started recording his brit-rock oriented songs aiming to do a solo album. In a darkening political situation in Russia at that time the main motive for lyrics was to find shelter in the beauty and love, and adopt the 60s spirit to the modern times. Right away Slava asked long-time jazz gig collaborator Semyon Fedotov (drums, percussion, back-vocals) to provide the drums for the recording. By the late summer of 2020 when first COVID lockdown was over, the desire to perform these songs live grew so big that guys asked a younger jazz fella Misha Paskov to join on the bass. After one gig as a trio, Fuzziliers opened a vacancy for a keyboard player and Georgy Kopylov (keys, vocals, songwriting), who for years played with Semyon in the local Irish-folk-punk band Red Box, joined in. Thus, the band was formed, and in July 2021 when the big part of recording was already finished, the first single Try was released via Addicted label from Moscow, Russia.
