FUNKY GROOVE is one of Poland's best electric jazz bands. It is comprised of two guitarists: Artur Lesicki and Marek Napiórkowski, supported by an excellent rhythm section - bassist Tomasz Grabowy and drummer Marcin Jahr. All are recognized musicians, respected by both the jazz and the mainstream audience, as apart from Funky Groove, they can be heard beside Poland's biggest music stars of all genres. The band plays mostly their own compositions (written mainly by Artur Lesicki), based on the unique blend of the sound of various guitars. The members of Funky Groove have given many performances both in Poland (all the biggest jazz festivals) and abroad (concerts in Germany, Holland, Turkey). What's more, they had the oportunity to work with stars such as: Randy Brecker, Eric Marienthal, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Frank Gambale, Urszula Dudziak, Mino Cinelu, Tomasz Stańko, Klaus Doldinger, Bill Evans and others. The readers of Jazz Forum magazine have recognized Funky Groove as the Best Electric Jazz Band of 2003. The first album of the band, released on PolyGram Poland, was dubbed the Guitar Jazz Record of the year 1997. In the Spring of 1998 the record was put into worldwide distribution of PolyGram (currently Universal). The second album, "Go To Chechua Mountain", featuring guest appearances by famous percussionist Nippy Noya and singer Dorota Miśkiewicz, has also been awarded the title of the Best Jazz Record (of 2003) in "Gitara i Bas".
