about

Formed in January 1979, the Funboy Five originally had four members, Mick Sinclair (guitar and vocals), John McRae (Keyboards), Bob Brimson (bass) and Robert Radhall (drums). In August 2014, Sinclair and McRae revived the band and released a seven-inch vinyl single, Save The World/What Did You Do With The Body? An early demo earned the band a session for the influential John Peel Show, broadcast in October 1979, and they followed this with a single, Life After Death/Compulsive Eater, in January 1980. With its low-budget, handwritten sleeve, the original single became a collectors item, featuring on two vinyl compilations as well as being listed in Johan Kugelberg’s 100 best records of the post-punk DIY-era, published in Ugly Things magazine. In 2007, some of the band’s back catalogue appeared on Messthetics #101: DIY 77-81 London, while Life After Death was included on Universal’s 2009 4-CD tribute to John Peel, titled Kats Karavan: The History of John Peel On The Radio. The new single, the first single, and a retrospective CD, Very Hush! Hush!, are available through the band’s website.
