Fun Fair are a Ukrainian art rock and soft rock band formed in Kyiv, Ukraine in the end of 2006. The original lineup consisted of keyboardist Vlad Havrylchyk, guitarist Nick Turunov, drummer Alexey Sletkoff and bassist Serge Vdovychenko (four of which remain the core of the band), as well as singer and songwriter Vlad Yushka. The latter has left Fun Fair in the end of 2008. The band found their first influences in music of The Queen, Marillion, Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, The Beatles, The Doors, The Allman Brothers Band, Cream, Grand Funk Railroad and others but gradually developed their own style, more close to art rock and soft rock with elements of funk, disco and raw rock and roll. Although the members of Fun Fair dislike such labels, preferring to describe the band's music simply as "rock n' roll" of their own way. Fun Fair's approach is the same over the band's career, preferring to play what they enjoy and do best. Their appreciation of early influences of classic rock and rock and roll is reflected in some of their occasional cover songs. Fun Fair's lyrics typically cover such topics as alienation effect, strong feelings, lost in a big city, good versus evil, love affairs, la reverie, substance abuse, "life on the road", age theme, joy of friendship and in general tend lo lean to positive and philosophic tones.
