From a young age, he was drawn to electronic music, which set him apart in a local culture dominated by genres like coupé décalé, zouglou, and hip-hop. This passion led him to be considered an outsider by some. His professional music career began in 2021. He initially found inspiration in popular electronic dance artists like Kygo, Dani Corbalan, Ali Bakgor, and The Chainsmokers. In 2024, Fred Ocean shifted his focus to the chillout genre, a style known for its calm and introspective moods. Fred Ocean's music is deeply personal and emotionally charged. He often explores themes of nostalgia and deep emotion, incorporating a touch of melancholy into his sound. This introspective approach is central to his creative process. Today, he continues to create music from his hometown of Abidjan, working to build his presence in the global chillout scene.
