Frank Sharman (born Frank Sarkany on 17 December, 1979) is a Hungarian pianist/singer-songwriter currently based in Budapest. He begun studying classical piano at the age of 4 and graduated at the Liszt Ferenc University of Music. He composed several string quartets and song cycles before he got into other styles of music. He always states that the ‘big bang’ was when he discovered Tori Amos’s ‘Scarlet’s Walk’. Under its deep influence he started to write his first album ‘a strange foreigner’ in 2001 but he has completed it only in 2003. The sonic shape of this compilation is clearly shows the roots of classical music and the passionate love of chamber orchestra sound. Its follower, ‘Abandoned Times’ (2004) is described as his return to the piano what he has abandoned some years ago. The songs herein are continuing the inchoate way of searching for freedom and must-needed openness. In the next two years Frank produced two albums for piano: ‘Night Stories (from Vienna)’- a soundtrack for a graduation feature and ‘Shades of Fall’, a collection of three complete series of solo piano works. His return to the rock music occurred in 2008 with a definitively new sound of ‘Secret Room’ where he started combine different kinds of sounds and elements, a unique fusion of styles. With this album he has found his own sound and style which can be described as a very personal voice that needs all of your senses while you are listening to Frank’s music.
