Aldo Parente (Franco Maria Giannini) was born in Rome in 1945. Caught up in the spirit and the winds of change, political and musical in the late 1960's he took up music as a way to express himself. He signed to RCA records and took the stage-name FOLKALDO. The most distinguishing aspect of this phase of his career was, at the suggestion of his commericial producer, was the use of a puppet 'SHAKIDU' who was to represent Folkaldo's alter-ego. At the end of each show SHAKIDU was tossed to the crowd as a symbol of personal liberation. Not surprisingly the novelty of the act despite a decent following and a good write-up in Ciao 2001. He decided to change musical direction and to mark that break with Folkaldo he took a new stage-name. One Franco Maria Giannini. He released his one and only album 'AFFRESCO'. Helping on the album were members of Quella Vecchia Locanda and Libra. The album was only produced in a limited pressing of 700 copies to vinyl. The album, like so many in Italy, did not sell well due to the absolute glut of Italian prog artists. The market just could not sustain them all which is why Italian prog is famous for having so many one shot groups who then disappear. Giannini unfortunately suffered for bad contracts and saw little to no finacial benefit to his recordings. As the years passed he grew bitter at his treatment by the recording industry and is now living in his vehicle at last word. To his surprise though. His album became one of the rarest and most s
