Artist
Francisco Soto de Langa was a singer, composer, and music editor of the Spanish Renaissance. He is considered as the first, or one of the former castrati in the Sistine Chapel, where he stayed from June 8, 1562 until his retirement in 1611, serving also as a teacher for five years. From 1582 until his death he was member the 'Confraternita della Resurrezione', where he has been responsible for organizing the music for the celebration of the birth of a daughter of Philip III of Spain. Soto was famous as a singer, and his performances attracted large crowds. He died in Rome on September 25, 1619.
