Artist
Foresta di Ferro's idea was born around 1995 but became a more serious project around 1999 featuring the actual line up consisting of Marco Deplano (Wertham), Richard Levithan (Strength Through Joy, Ostara) and John Murphy (Knifeladder, SPK, Shining Vril, etc), plus contributions of friends like Francis Tami, Wendy Van Dusen, Jim Morton, Andrew King and others. Foresta di Ferro stands for "iron forest" and although inspired by the Edda and the Voluspa, it is a name which refers to an immense decaying industrial site nearby Como, Italy, city where Marco lives. The monicker intends to express various dualities as natural/metallic, wild/technologic, acoustic/electronic, progressive/traditional, past/future with all the fascination, interest and obsession we all have for these factors, all sparks of a wider confusing reality we feel somehow trapped in.
